Piffaro announces finalists in its recorder competition for young players

recorderFive talented young players have been selected for Piffaro’s second recorder competition for middle school and high school students.  They will come to Philadelphia in January for the final competition in front of two judges and a live audience.   A winner will be chosen that evening, and that performer will return to Philadelphia in March for a recital with the 2007 winner, Alexa Raine-Wright.

The finalists are:

  • Ariel Branz, age 16, Boulder CO
  • Bryan Duerfeldt, age 15, St. Paul MN
  • Joe Lewnard, age 18, Chicago IL
  • Amy Pikler, age 16, Chicago IL
  • Olivia Sohlen, age 16, St. Paul MN

The finals will be held at the Settlement Music School, 6128 Germantown Avenue in Philadelphia at 7:30 on Saturday, January 10th.  The event is free and open to the public.  Come join us and hear the next generation of young recorder virtuosi!
