In 1581, the first bishop of Manila arrived in the Philippines, bringing with him books of sacred music so that the mass could be celebrated with the same beauty heard in Europe’s great churches. This collaboration with world-renowned Cappella Pratensis centers on the radiant Missa Sancta et immaculata of Francisco Guerrero. It will be performed from original notation as singers and wind players gather closely around a shared music stand. We invite you to join us and experience the past as it’s shaped in the present.
